Memorable collaborations with composers have been an integral part of Elektra’s three decades of accomplishment. Shining Light: Celebrating Women Composers will be a rich feast of music by living Canadian and American female composers, including Alice Parker, Eleanor Daley, Ramona Luengen, Abbie Betinis, Joan Szymko, Leslie Uyeda, Joanne Metcalf, Sarah Quartel, Jocelyn Hagen, iconic songwriter Joni Mitchell, and more. This concert marks the start of a three-year project of focused collaboration between Elektra and emerging and established women composers and includes the premiere of a new work by Vancouver-based Kathleen Allan.
